Parliamentary sources: political blocs have agreed on the nomination of Khalid al-Obeidi of the Ministry of Defence
2011 17:06 Wednesday, May 18 - May 2011 17:06

Source revealed that the parliamentary political blocs have agreed on the nomination of Khalid al-Obeidi of the Ministry of Defence. The source said the political blocs agreed during the meetings held in the capital Baghdad during the past few days on a candidate sponsored by a Kurdish Iraqi List, the Ministry of Defense Khalid al-Obeidi, rather tired of the candidate of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Saadoun al-Dulaimi. The source added that Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki will present his candidates for Obeidi with the Ministries of Interior and Tawfiq al-homeland security Riad Ghraib to vote on them in a special session will be held early next June.
Prior to the Iraqi list that revealed, last April, the withdrawal of its candidate for the Ministry of Defence Khalid tired Obeidi his candidacy from the office, likely to be his decision because of the lack of agreed upon within the list. The head of the House of Representatives Osama Nujaifi announced during a press conference, the fifth of May, the current , the names of candidates of the security ministries are all of Saadoun al-Dulaimi, who currently serves as Minister of Culture of the Ministry of Defense, and Tawfiq al for the National Coalition for the Interior Ministry, Riad Ghraib on National Alliance, also, to national security, stressing that it will be discussed and be listed on the agenda of the Council.
This, said Iyad Allawi said in an interview earlier, that the Maliki government is working in a confidential manner by sending the names of the candidates of the security ministries to Parliament, and in affirming that the withdrawal of its list of the political process in the event of Maliki's insistence on candidates
She stressed the Iraqi List, confirmed, on the fifth of May now, bags that security may not be according to the desire of the Commander in Chief of the armed forces, Nouri al-Maliki, as if the other blocks have no opinion on the subject, indicating that these nominations "not serious" and there are stalling to keep these files However, al-Maliki by proxy, as confirmed Iraqi National List in 20 of last April, the National Partnership in the joints of the Supreme State and subsequent positions of deputy ministers and advisers have not been realized until now, criticizing the lack of consensus on the minister of security, as well as failure to combat corruption, which will draw the Iraq crisis consecutive prevent any development in the country, calling for a meeting of leaders of political blocs to develop a road map of the National Reform.
And spin differences between the Iraqi List and the National Coalition on the nomination of candidates for office security vacancies in the government, was identified as the Iraqi List, the uniqueness of Maliki's nomination of candidates is a repudiation of the Agreement on Irbil, which gave the Iraqi list the full right according to the political consensus that oozes from it deems appropriate for the post of defense minister, confirmed that it would refuse to vote on candidates Maliki categorically

Maliki: we will not be victims of politicians who see nothing but themselves
    07/06/2011 16:23:00

Baghdad (NINA) - Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki said "we were able to put the premises of state-building, and we are moving towards the construction, reconstruction, providing services and stability."

Media office of Maliki quoted him as saying, during his attendance to the Tribal Support Councils Conference in Baghdad on Tuesday, "we will not be victims of some politicians who do not see anything but themselves only at the expense of the people's interest. We will build and reconstruct despite their putting hurdles on the reconstruction rout, and in cooperation with real partners who believe in Iraq and the efforts of tribal and civil society organizations."

Responding to those who underestimate what has been achieved in the national reconciliation area, Maliki said "I tell them that reconciliation is clear from this great gathering and the solid base which counts on the political process, and through what has been done by your hands, and the efforts made by the Ministry of State for National Reconciliation and the Support Councils and the tribal sheikhs, is really great.

He continued "unfortunately, we find someone that demands the release of perpetrators of crimes against the people, they do not denounce their crimes, and do not stand with the families of the martyrs and do not sympathize with them. What they do is agitating people about specific issues rather than demanding the execution of these criminals, as we find some who have committed crimes are affiliated to some officials in the state."

He pointed out that "some are deliberately disabling the state projects so that they could say that the government has not achieved, and there are those who want to bring back the sedition again by saying that the political process stands on the brink of a serious stage. The fact is that all are equal under the roof of service, all are one in front of responsibility, and you will see on TV screens what has been achieved, so that the people will evaluate the performance of the government.” /End/

Iraq Minister: All political factions have laid down weapons

    Tuesday, June 07, 2011 12:57 GMT

Iraq’s National Reconciliation Minister Amer Al Khizaii announced that all political factions have laid down weapons in exception for Baath Party and Al Qaeda which only some members disarmed.

The disarmament did not only cover the armed factions, Al Khizaii affirmed that a number of tribes laid down weapons while others will disarm during the coming weeks, a source told Alsumaria.

Iraq’s National reconciliation minister criticized the formation of the national strategic policy council which he believes is a mine in the political process.

Armed factions’ disarmament comes in light of security deterioration and ongoing violations. Observers wonder about the efficiency of achieving reconciliation with factions that don’t seem to be influential on the Iraqi scene.

Maliki to evaluate Iraq Cabinet performance during 100 day deadline

    Tuesday, June 07, 2011 11:29 GMT

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki called on Iraqi citizens to show tolerance during his evaluation to the government’s performance within the 100 day deadline, a source told Alsumaria.

In the regular session of Iraq’s ministerial council, Maliki said there will be a similar period that completes the first 100 day deadline.

Iraqi Ministers will display their achievements and future plans starting today, Maliki noted.

The most important thing a minister or an official can offer in service of the people, is to follow up his work in the field.

Starting today, meetings will be held in front of the people. Discussions will cover all fields one by one. We will go over three headlines or three ministers. We must realize the framework upon which we will carry on with the second 100 day deadline, Maliki said.

Cabinet spokesman Ali Al Dabbagh on the other hand announced that the 100 day deadline will not be extended. This deadline has triggered political action in the country, he concluded.
